SFL INDIA INKS CANADIAN TV DEAL

Recently,  it was announced that Canadian-based MMA fighter Kultar "Black Mamba" Gill has signed a four fight contract with SFL, cementing the most prominent fighter of Indian ethnicity as a staple in the India-pased promotion.  Now SFL announces that his Canadian fans will be able to watch him on home turf as well.  SFL has formed a partnership with Canada's Fight Network and will begin airing SFL events as soon as July 19th.

Here is the official press release from Super Fight League:

Fight Network Announces Broadcast Partnership with Indian MMA Promotion Super Fight League

Toronto – Canada’s Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, has become the official home for Super Fight League events from India.

One of the fastest growing international mixed martial arts entities, Super Fight League has already hosted three successful events, which will be premiering Thursdays on Fight Network, beginning with SFL 1 on July 19 at 9 p.m. ET.

Super Fight League 1 from March was headlined by a heavyweight battle between James Thompson and Bob Sapp. The promotion’s next event took place in April and it featured a number of compelling matchups, including Todd Duffee vs. Neil Grove, Alexander Shlemenko vs. Ikuhisa Minowa and Ryan Healy vs. Paul Kelly. SFL 3 emanated from New Dehli this past May, featuring James Thompson vs. Bobby Lashley, Trevor Prangley vs. Baga Agaev, Zelg Galesic vs. Doug Marshall, plus the mixed martial arts return of Canadian-Indian competitor Kultar Gill.

"Fight Network is continually seeking relevant mixed martial arts organizations from across the world and Super Fight League has carved out its niche as a premier organization operating out of Asia, a growing market for the sport," said Chad Midgley, VP of Programming & Production at Fight Network. "The group has already committed to an extensive 2012 schedule in India, while signing some of the best free agents available and offering world-class production value in its shows, making it a perfect fit for Fight Network's diverse audience."

SFL CEO Ken Pavia added: “Super Fight League seeks to bring their vision of Sportainment to North America and we couldn’t think of a better platform than Fight Network to partner with for our first three events. They know the fight game and we believe their target audience will appreciate the level of sport from the top Asian organization.”

Super Fight League returns on September 8 with a stacked card from Bengaluru, India, featuring Todd Duffee, known for one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history, who looks to make it two in a row under the SFL banner, as he takes on well-travelled veteran Jeff Monson, who was just seen making short work of Denis Komkin on Fight Network’s live presentation of M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Rizzo from Russia. Also scheduled is a heavyweight bout between Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii and resurgent heavyweight Jimmy Ambriz, who needed just 14 seconds to knock out Satish Jamia at SFL 1 this past March.

The action continues with Super Fight League 5 set for October 6 in Channai, India, with a planned main event pitting Pride knockout artist Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou against South African veteran Trevor Prangley.

All bouts and events are subject to change.
